Understanding the nature of open source as a technology, licensing and business model is becoming more and more important in university research, as open source is increasingly used in R+D+I.

This seminar not only provides the basics on open source licensing and compliance, but also aims to enable participants to debate the pros and cons of open source, understand its risks and challenges, and discover best practices in open source management.

At the end of this seminar, researchers should know how to recognise open source licenses and license types, how to manage open source as components in a research project, and how, why and even when to use open source as a licensing model for the project results, and the impact on technology transfer and business models.
